The Helena Education Foundation and business teachers in the Helena Public Schools teamed up with local
business leaders to offer high school students a series of workshops at the sixth annual Vigilante Academy.
Vigilante Academy was held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 8:20-noon at Capital High and Helena High Schools, the day before the Vigilante Parade.
New workshops this year included “Credit 101” by the Consumer Credit Counseling Service, “Got Ethics” by Coleen Smith of the Better Business Bureau, “Money 101” by Rocky Mountain Credit Union and the Helena Community Credit Union, and “Know How 2 Go” by the Student Assistance Foundation.
Helena School District teachers and technology experts Kelly Elder and Mike Agostinelli led hands-on computer sessions on cyber safety, presenting new information about Twitter and Facebook. Also presenting information about internet safety was Detective Bryan Fischer of the Helena Police Department.
The Helena Education Foundation, American Federal Savings Bank and the Student Assistance Foundation are the sponsors of Vigilante Academy.
