In addition to providing professional development for teachers, the Helena Education Foundation sponsors an annual Leadership Institute for Helena Public School administrators. Participants learn the latest leadership and management techniques from community leaders and special guests and can interact with each other in a variety of ways, including breakout groups and exploratory activities.
The talk will take a look at the general predictors of educational success and how communities can take action to improve the performance of all students.
The Helena Board of Trustees has identified increasing our high school graduation rates as priority for our community. A grant from the Verizon Foundation has made it possible to bring Christopher Lohse, the strategic initiative director of information systems and research at the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) back to Helena.

Participants will understand how the typical business model can apply to public education, including assets and liabilities, public relations and marketing, and shareholder relationships.
Education administrators from the Helena Public Schools and other Montana school and state administrators will gather with business experts to learn about and discuss the message from Thomas Friedman’s book, The World is Flat, focusing on changes in major economic areas and the implications for business and education leaders in Montana.
