Pen & Ink 2025 Launch Party

The Launch Party for Pen & Ink 2025 will be held at 5:30 pm Thursday, May 8 at the Holter Museum of Art during their annual Youth Electrum Exhibit.

The Helena Education Foundation is thrilled to announce the inaugural year of the Going to the Sun Award, providing up to four $350 awards to be given annually to HPS high school student visual artists by the Helena Education Foundation beginning in 2025. The Going to the Sun Award was established by a local family of longtime advocates/supporters of Helena Public Schools and the Helena Education Foundation.

Professional artists in the community will review submissions and select the winning pieces. The artwork of the Going to the Sun Award recipients will be featured in the annual Pen & Ink magazine, as well as at the community launch party for the magazine, hosted by HEF to honor the student editors, writers, and artists.

Pen and Ink 2025

The deadline for submitting to Pen & Ink 2025, the 2025 Harrison Writing Awards, and the inaugural Going to the Sun Art Awards 2025 is Friday, January 17.

Guidelines for submissions

• Limit 5 submissions per artist per category (writing or art)
• Writing must be 12 pt font, double spaced, Word document only
• Art is accepted as only .jpg or .pdf
• Contributors must be students at either CHS, HHS or PAL
• Must submit using an HPS student email
• All writing submissions will be eligible for the Harrison Writing Award
• All art submissions will be eligible for the Going to the Sun Art Award.
